Article 6 and Annex III high-risk classification

Build a repeatable classification rationale for stand-alone high-risk use cases.

Learn

For stand-alone systems, identify whether the intended use falls within Annex III and then consider the Article 6 conditions and any relevant exception.

The use case matters more than the brand or model architecture.

Document both positive and negative decisions so a reviewer can reproduce the classification.

Remember
  • •Use the legal pathway, not gut feeling.
  • •Document why not high-risk as well as why high-risk.
  • •Profiling and decision influence deserve careful review.
Client practice

Classify three uses of the same LLM: marketing copy, CV shortlisting and loan application scoring.
